Fiji Blind Snake – Typhlopidae

Many animal species in Fiji have not yet been described or have not even been discovered yet. Is this one of them?

Fijian Blue Blind Snake???

Ovalau, 20 ‎March ‎2023
Found in my backyard while gardening.

This small, non-venomous, ground-dwelling blindsnake is only about 12 cm long.

If you don’t look closely, you’ll think it’s a blue earthworm. It must be super rare because it’s my first time seeing it. I was digging in the ground and then happened to see it. It doesn’t seem to like light because it tried to bury itself in the humus. To photograph it, I had to put it in a container. When I released it, it immediately buried itself again.
