Ovalau Watersports is located in the small
historic town of Levuka on Ovalau Island to the east of Suva on Fiji's
main island of Viti Levu. Levuka was the capital of Fiji from 1874 until 1883 when the capital moved to Suva. Levuka was designated an historic town in 1989 and has applied to UNESCO for World Heritage Status. Ovalau Island is a lush tropical volcanic island of about 100 square kilometers surrounded by large coral reefs. It is the main island of the Lomaiviti Group which is made up of the islands of Namena, Makogai, Koro, Wakaya, Batiki, Nairai, Gau and Ovalau. The islands are the peaks of deep-sea volcanoes that became extinct millions of years ago. Levuka and Ovalau are still of the main tourist track, but its a destination to experience the real Fiji. Even it appears to be a place off 100 years ago, all important infrastructure is found in Levuka. Supermarkets, grocery stores, bakeries, hardware & appliance stores. Cinema, clubs, café and restaurants, churches, museum and library, post office, document and freight couriers, internet access, banks, customs & immigration and a new modern hospital. Accommodations, tours and activities, daily ferry and flight services.
